Schultz von Saltzburg

Beautiful 7 month old Schultz should be a much sought after black and red German Shepherd puppy, he is most likely from German import lines. Now he is anything but sought after. Now he is just something to pity. What was done to him in his short life is unbelievable; he is just a bag of bones; he has wasted to almost nothing. His skin is raw from a fungal infection on his chest and under his chin; his fur is almost non existent and he has demodectic mange due to a compromised immune system; his body is like leather from dehydration and infection. With the drop in temperature, and no body fat to insulate him, this poor puppy must have shivered and tried to find warmth, but to no avail. He got sick, very sick. He was so weak he could hardly even sit up and he developed pneumonia and a nasty nasal discharge. Then one day his owners came out into the yard and little Schultz, who still loves people, must have wagged his tail thinking someone was going to feed him or give him something to drink or make him feel better.  We imagine that a rope was put around his neck and he was dragged to their truck, he was tossed in the back, like we see so often. At the shelter, the family who had purchased this magnificent puppy just asked that he be euthanized and walked away. Schultz was carried back into the clinic to be put to sleep, but someone saw him and called Westside! We found out that the family lives in a nice house and they have the biggest property in the area and we are pushing for the shelter to press neglect charges. Can you help us take care of Schultz? He is struggling to breathe, his lungs are full, and he is on 24 hour antibiotics and fluids. The staff at the hospital is giving Schultz extra love and attention; they want him to pull through. For the first time in his life Schultz has people that really care about him. Please show that you, too, care about Schultz and help us with his incredible medical expenses.

Take a look at another lucky shepherd we rescued last year. His shelter photos
sure didn't turn any heads, but look at him today ...
